If you’re unfamiliar with this infamous piece of fantasy culture, consider it the anti-championship, the crown that nobody wants, the reverse MVP. Yes, that’s right. The Sacko is awarded to the worst team in the league. Bottom of the barrel. Last place. The kind of team that makes you think, “Did they even set their lineup once this season?”
But hey, we get it—fantasy basketball can be brutal. Injuries happen, players get cold, and your top pick suddenly forgets how to shoot. Still, someone has to be the worst. And this year, we’re making sure they get the recognition they deserve.
What’s at stake? Oh, just a little public humiliation. The loser will have the honour of being crowned the official Sacko of the league, and yes, there will be a glorious medal to go with it. Imagine your name etched on a symbol of defeat, immortalized for all time—or at least until next season. But most importantly, we’ve thrown in a ridiculous costume to wear at our end-of-season celebration dinner. (Oh yeah, let’s go to dinner after playoffs!) The possibilities for shame are endless.
So, dear competitors, set those lineups, scour the waiver wire, and don’t let your season go down faster than a blown fourth-quarter lead. Because while winning the league is sweet, avoiding the Sacko is a victory in its own right.
